My Prayer for 2016

My Prayer for 2016

Please Share...Thanks!I pray that 2016 finds you in the warm glow of love. May you experience wonder, surprise, and happiness. I pray that you and your loved ones are safe, warm, and well nourished…physically and mentally. During 2016 I hope you remember to look up into the night sky and gaze at constellations, and quasars, and a falling star or two. Marvel at a mountain, an ocean, or a flower. May you get caught up in the laughter of a child and see in all these things how small and great you are all at once…at least once. I pray that kisses touch your lips and hugs squeeze you tightly… often. People will upset you and be unkind from time to time, and I wish upon you the grace to step aside and let it pass you…they are not on your level. I hope you’ll set goals for this year, and see them through to their fulfillment; and know the pride of making something from nothing. If a loved one leaves you, may they live on forever in your heart, and remind you of the wonderful times you shared when they were here. I pray that the New Year will see us all move a step closer to realizing that we are all one. I pray that police will be respected and respectful. We cannot lose any more of our children, nor any of our protectors. May the religions of the world and all its factions embrace commonality and use its power to bridge divides and expand the love of the God they serve. May we all see the...
How To Improve Your Self Esteem

How To Improve Your Self Esteem

Please Share...Thanks!Going through life will inevitably have its ups and downs.  There will be good days and just as certainly there will be bad days, this is the nature of life.  While we may be able to reduce the bad days, we can never eliminate them.  However we can learn to cope with challenges, obstacles, and other assorted nonsense in a way that leaves us more in control than out of control.  One of the keys is self-esteem. While high self-esteem can help us to cope with difficulties, it can also open us up to see and experience more opportunities and more success.  Self-esteem is some good stuff.  So, what is self-esteem?  The Oxford Dictionary says that it is – Confidence in one’s own worth or abilities; self-respect. When you feel like you don’t matter much in this world, or like you don’t have anything of value to offer; you will tend to act accordingly.  You will tend to accept what life hands to you.  People with low self-esteem usually don’t pursue advanced education or training, and as a result they have jobs that reflect the effort they have put into themselves.  You will rarely find people with low self-esteem at the helm of successful businesses, or living a life filled with happiness and accomplishment.  Low self-esteem is a heavy burden to bear, and if you have it, it’s not your fault. We could get into what your parents or mate did or didn’t do, but that wouldn’t change your circumstance today.  Instead what I’d like to do is give you some suggestions and ideas to help you move...
How To Keep Going

How To Keep Going

Please Share...Thanks!The full title of this article should really be – “How To Keep Going, When What You Really Want To Do Is Sit On The Damn Couch With A 6 Pack of Beer And A Bag Of Cheetos.”  But, I thought that title might be a bit wordy.  So I opted for brevity.  The truth of the matter is that on your journey to create your EPIC LIFE, there will be many times that you will not want to move forward.  I want to help you deal with this inevitable stumbling block. The first thing a lot of people will do when they feel unmotivated, is feel guilty.  Even that is understandable, but it’s not useful.  Guilt will make you defensive, even when there’s nothing to defend against.  Anytime you’re feeling guilty over brief periods of waning motivation, is a perfect time to simply acknowledge your feelings, and then move past them.  Beating yourself up about feeling guilty will only make you feel more guilty, creating a nasty vicious cycle. I would imagine that there are some extreme Type-A personalities that rarely if ever experience a lack of motivation.  Those people are NEVER satisfied, rarely happy, and impossible to work with.  Outside of those miserable people most of us from time to time just don’t feel like moving forward.  This is totally normal. Being normal, you should cut yourself a break. Now, cutting yourself a break does not mean throwing in the towel or being lazy.  There will be plenty of times you’re going to need to work through your lack of motivation.  The key to your long...

How to Overcome Fear and Self-Doubt

How to Overcome Fear and Self-Doubt

Please Share...Thanks!Most people would love to improve their lives in some way. The thought of accomplishing something amazing is a great idea to a lot of people, but when it’s time to actually do something about it they are stopped dead in their tracks by fear and self-doubt. Ironically even people who live large and are very successful by most folk’s standard experience fear and sometimes paralyzing fear. In this article, I’m going to share some great ways to help you to get over the challenge of fear and self-doubt. One thing to be well aware of is that most people doubt themselves from time to time. Many people we consider to be quite successful deal with fears and self-doubt. I remember watching an interview with the singer Adele on the CBS program 60 minutes. At the time she was one of the hottest singers on the music scene, and she’s still phenomenal. She said to Anderson Cooper that she gets extremely nervous before a performance, sometimes to the point of vomiting. The difference between her and people who don’t live out their dreams, is she simply walked through the fear right into her greatness on the stage. She refused to let fear control her life. Courage is the willingness to act in spite of fear. Remember that courage is not the absence of fear; it’s the willingness to act in spite of the fear. It is so easy to fall into the false belief that we have to actually do something about how we happen to feel. The truth is that we do not have to actually upon...
